About

Hi, I'm Sylvia Zhao!

I'm currently a product designer at JPMorganChase where I design for payments and digital wallets in New York City. Previously, I've designed for home lending tools at Chase, web experiences for Design Ops at Logitech, and a combination of UX and visual design for startups. I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Cognitive Science & Computer Science.

In my free time, I like to bake bread, do nail art, and discover music for my never-ending number of playlists.

What shapes my design work?

Computer science background

My technical knowledge supports my design work by facilitating cross-functional conversations. I love to build my own projects, and I'm passionate about the role that coding knowledge plays in design collaboration.

Complex systems & product experience

Working on financial products taught me how to translate complex requirements into designs that balance business and user needs. It also gave me experience with highly regulated domains and dedication to accessibile design.

Visual design roots

My design journey originally started with visual design and illustration. As a product designer now, I pay strong attention to the visual craft of my work.
